Hey Lord! Would you do it for 1 rupee?

Amidst vast set of problems, I pray to the Almighty, "Hey Lord! Do me a favour. Save my ass from tommorrow's assignments, or from parents' fury.... Get me a 90% score card (you know I have attempted 30%)....... and you know, what? I won't disappoint you... I'll give you 1 rupee 4 annas... Happy????? no!! ok 'll give you some more but promise me you'll do it..." You must have found yourself somewhere in the statement.. And wherever he/she is, He/she must be enjoying the bribing/cunning acts of his/her own creation.

We say, taking bribe is corruption, is immoral... What exactly am I practising when I offer a glass of milk to lord, with 3 teaspoons full of sugar in it (sometimes Ro-o-hafza too!!) at 4 am, just because I have an exam at 9 am that day.... just because I have an interview this day... because I want to marry someone... want some decision in my favour... one or the other thing....

Now either I should accept my Lord is corrupt, immoral, or if he doesn't favour me even after my so-many pious acts, again either he is the biggest cheater of the world, or all these long-established customs are fake.... People say (trying to satisfy their ego's reactions), "No, he must be favouring... Are we all a chunk of fools who practise it till today? Who taught you this non-sense?.... You have no knowledge.. lord is hungry only of our feelings, not these offerings.. " I ask,"Yup! I agree.. then, why don't you give these to needy people, beggars, disabled who can't earn a living..." And a lovely answer comes from these sacred people "Who are we to take care? He is the only one who has made them so!! Their sufferings must have been because of their previous misdeeds!!" And I laugh out loud (of course, not in front of them..) How ignorant! Should I rather say, "We all are living in a virtual world, each one living happily there one made, by him, for him, where fortunes quota is fixed for others by their respective destinies, but mine can change :-)... Afterall, this is my world, yaar!!"

I feel, society needs a change, which can only be brought up by a radical way of thinking mixed with good education.... Albert Einstein once said, "It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education. The ability to question should never stop." We should keep asking our own self, "Why should I believe this idea?, only because my parents told me to do so... only because I see majority of people doing this.... only because if I don't believe it, my sweet heart will turn into bitterheart (can't stop my self from poor jokes :-D)..."

In the end, some words of wisdom by a noted psychologist Udham Singh, "Moving with a herd is the job of a sheep....... King is the one who defines the path for the rest."
